CPI demands proper irrigation facility

Communist Party of India (CPI) Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar has demanded the state government to take up initiatives for providing proper irrigation facilities in the farmlands of the state.
He was attending the 48th conference of CPI Khundrakpam Local Council held at Sambei in Imphal East district on Tuesday.
CPI leaders N Mangi and Y Ibochouba also attended the conference as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Sotinkumar asserted that maximum of the people in the state are farmers and stressed the need for developing proper irrigation facilities so that the farmers could have good harvest.
He urged the government to ensure adequate and timely availability of fertiliser to the farmers.
The common people are already bearing the hardships of Covid-19 pandemic and inflation.
Transport fare has increased by 150 per cent and prices of essential commodities including food items as well as construction materials have soared.
Despite such a challenging situation, the government is remaining silent, he said while stressing the need for public movement to draw the government's attention.
CPI state secretariat member RK Amusana and Imphal East district secretary H Bimol emphasised on the need of strengthening Khundrakpam local council.
Political and organisational draft reports of the party were discussed during the conference in which A Chandrakumar and Ksh Joykumar were also appointed as secretary and assistant secretary of the local council.
Earlier on Monday, former minister Dr Moirangthem Nara and CPI state secretary L Sotinkumar attended the annual conference of CPI Wangjing Tentha Local Council.
