Imphal, June 07 2022:
Antiretroviral drugs (ARV), which are important medications for the treatment of infection by retroviruses primarily HIV, have ran out of stock in all the ART centres of Manipur since April, thus drastically affecting the ART patients and compromising the adherence aspects of ART consumers.
A joint release issued by MNP+, SASO, Care Foundation and Kripa Society pointed out that the present situation has affected more than 13,000 ART service recipients of the state.
The ARV drugs that have ran out of stock in the state are Ab-acavir+ Lamivudine, Abacavir (single), Lamivudine (single), Tenofovir+ Lamivudine, Lamivudine+ Ritonavir, TLE, TL, ZL (Paediatric), ZLN (Paediatric), EFV (Paediatric), it informed.
Contending that authority concerned has been paying no heed despite repeated appraisals, the joint release appealed to authority concerned to take up immediate steps to ensure ARV drugs are available in the state as the life of more than 13,000 people are at stake.
It further urged to inform the programme participant at least a month ahead in such case of stock running out so as to facilitate prior arrangements.
