CYCLONE extend lead after win vs Al-Ameen, CHAMP beat REYS

CYCLONE continued their unbeaten run with a convincing 50-run win over Al-Ameen, while CHAMP Cricket Club dislodged PTRC from second spot in the standings after beating REYS by 35 runs in Tuesday's fixtures of the 8th MNCA Elite Tournament.
With the win, CYCLONE have opened a two-point lead at the summit of the tournament table, gaining 12 points from their six matches.
In a curtailed match, CYCLONE made 164/8 in 25 overs after they were asked to bat first.
Bikash Singh led the way with an unbeaten 48 as Kishan Laishram contributed 36 while Abdul Kasim remained not out on 26 .
Kabrambam Homendro Meitei (13) and Loktongbam Santosh Meitei (10) were other run getters in double digits.
The Thangmeiband squad then bowled well to stall Al-Ameen at 114/9 for their comfortable victory.
Loktongbam Santosh Meitei, Abdul Kasim and Nongmaithem Suraj Singh each claimed two scalps while Nongthombam Denin and Bikash Singh took one apiece in CYCLONE'S triumph.
Only Mohammed Shamir Khan (31) and Md Karim (23) had decent runs in Al-Ameen's run chase.
Earlier, both Habibullah Ahammed and Khulakpam Hanif picked two wickets while Mohammed Shamir Khan, Md Karim and Najarul Islam each bagged one for the Lilong side.
CHAMPS toppled PTRC from second spot of the standings after securing a 35-run victory in the day's other match.
Following their win, the Khagempalli side are now two points behind leaders CYCLONE with 10 poin ts from six matches.
PTRC have dropped to third with nine points from six matches as CRAU occupy fourth place with seven points, having played six matches as well.
Put in to bat, CHAMP were 153/8 in 25 overs with contributions from Lairenjam Ansh Singh (32), Keisham Kennedy (31 not out), Nitesh Sedai (16), Md Sultan Karim (16), Thingbaijam Nicholson Singh (16) and Narsingh Yadav (15) .
In the process, they lost three wickets to Sougrakpam Shangkar Singh, two to Md Basir Rahman, and one each to Nanao Singh Laishram, Sapam Bikash Singh and Sandeep Kumar.
In reply, REYS wilted under pressure as they were dismissed for 118 in 22.4 overs.
Kiran Laishram scored a fighting 35 in vain.
Mohd Ahsanul Kabir shone with the ball for triumphant CHAMP, grabbing four wickets.
On the other hand, Md Sultan Karim did his bit with three scalps while Moirangthem Thomas Singh and Nitesh Sedai took one each.
