Memorial stone of N Tadangbe installed

All Zeliangrong Students' Union - Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) and Magulong Village Council (MVC) jointly organised a Memorial Stone Installation programme at Magulong village under Tousem sub-division in Tamenglong district on Monday in memory of (late) N Tadangbe, who served as a presiding priest during the historic oath-taking ceremony known as 'Nsuktoibe'/Chukthoibo'/Chuksoihmei', a traditional purification or cleansing rite to resolve inter-village feuds held on April 1, 1934 .
According to AZSU-AMN Information & Publicity Wing, the installation programme was attended by representatives of Zeliangrong Baudi-Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (ZB-AMN), Zeliangrong Youth Front Manipur (ZYFM), Inpui Naga Union (INU), All Inpui Students' Union (AISU), Zeme Naga Council North-East India (ZNCNEI), Zeme Naga Council Manipur (ZNCM), Zeliangrong Students' Union Assam (ZSUA), Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur (ZSUM), Zeliangrong Students' Union Nagaland (ZSUN), leaders from surrounding villages and many senior activists and leaders from Zeliangrong communities.
The memorial stone was unveiled and dedicated to the Lord by Zeliangrong Baptist Churches Council North-East India (ZBCCNEI), Khongjaron, general secretary MG Gangkhui.
In his presidential address D Stephen Zeme stated that the historic ceremony of 'Nsuktoibe/Chukthoibo/Chuksoihmei' in 1934 marked a significant moment in Zeliangrong history, symbolising the unbreakable bond of brotherhood across religious, social and political dimensions.
"The sacred cleansing rite served as a solemn declaration for the community to let go of past grievances related to headhunting and to cease all inter-clan, inter-village and intra-tribal feuds.
This 'Nsuktoibe/Chukthoibo/Chuksoihmei' ceremony has undoubtedly led to the significant positive changes for the Zeliangrong people," he said.
Solidarity messages were also delivered by ZB-AMN president Akhang Kamei, INU president K Merajao, AZSU former presidents Diswang Hau and Ningthaodai Gonmei, while a brief history of late N Tadangbe was delivered by Magulong Village Authority chairman D Deichong.
Meanwhile AZSU-AMN held its 3rd Union Assembly (DIMKI) in the second session.
The house deliberated on the upcoming Diamond Jubilee of AZSU cum Platinum Jubilee of ZSUM to be held in 2025.The house had a lengthy discussion on Zeliangrong Homeland issue and resolved to organise public consultative meeting for further deliberation.
AZSU-AMN further conveyed that the house also deliberated on the on-going Indo-Naga peace process and resolved to extend fullest support for peaceful settlement which is acceptable and honourable to all the communities.
