Imphal, April 08 2010: As pre-emptive measures the State Government has clamped 144 CrPC whereby assembly of five or more persons and carrying of objects that could cause harm have been prohibited in the entire area of Imphal East district with effect from 6 am of April 4 .

Citing that decision to impose the restrictions had been taken based on report of the SP (IE) regarding likelihood of causing serious breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquillity, etc., a statement issued today by the District Magistrate said the prohibition would remain in force until further order.

In case procession, public meeting, rally are being planned, person/s concerned will have to obtain permission of the authority concerned, it added.
