CM to visit Ukhrul, hold Cabinet meeting

Chief Minister N Biren Singh is set to visit Ukhrul next week for a Cabinet meeting and a slew of inauguration programme.
According to a source available to this correspondent, Chief Minister N Biren singh will visit Ukhrul and hold a Cabinet meeting on October 18 at Mini Secretariat Office Complex, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
During his visit to Ukhrul, the Chief Minister will inaugurate 21 projects that were constructed at the total cost of Rs 23.93 crore in different villages of Ukhrul.
In addition, N Biren Singh will also lay the foundation stone for 24 projects including construction of quarters in seven police stations, namely Ukhrul, Chingai, Jessami, Shangshak, Somdal, Litan and Phungyar police station.
The other Ukhrul district infrastructural development projects include construction of road from NH-202 to Halang circular road, improvement of inter village circular road at New Tusom and Tusom Christian village, construction of PHSC Phungcham, Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, construction of children home, cultural centre cum multi purpose building, integrated farming for upliftment of Huishu village, bailey bridge etc.
The total cost of the projects is Rs 41.61 crore.
In connection with the Chief Minister's visit to Ukhrul, a DLOs meeting was held yesterday at Ukhrul DC Office chamber chaired by Khashim Vashum, Minister Transport, Veterinary & Animals Husbandry to discuss the preparations for the upcoming programmes.
Ukhrul MLA Ramnganing Muivah was also in attendance at the meeting.
According to sources, the Chief Minister will hold a short public meeting inside the Mini Secretariat Office Complex prior to the Cabinet meeting.
The department staff have already started making a stage for the public meeting at Hamleikhong.
It might be mentioned that five welcome gates will be erected to welcome the Chief Minister and his Ministerial team in Ukhrul town.
The first gate will be erected at Kharasom Junction.
