Imphal, October 12 2023:
Claiming that Dhanamanjuri College of Arts (DMCA) has revoked the admission of two displaced students, the Students' Union, Dhanamanjuri College of Arts has urged the Chief Minister and Education Minister to look into the matter.
In a statement, Students' Union DMCA alleged that the Vice Chancellor and other relevant authority of DMCA had approved the admission of the two displaced students to the College as they applied for admission after losing their homes to arson in the ongoing conflict.
Currently seeking refuge at the relief camp set up by Thangmeiband United Club, the cost of the duo's college supplies and hostel fees were set to be borne by the Students Union DMCA and the teachers of the College, as per the statement.
However, their admission was allegedly revoked by the authorities when the two had already started attending classes.
Referring to the State Government's directive to allow free admission of displaced students to nearby schools and colleges, Students Union DMCA has questioned if DMCA is not under the State Government and further expressed worry if the two students' academic career might be ruined as a result of this.
Thus, Students Union DMCA has called upon the Chief Minister, Education Minister and the public to address the issue.
