Don't utilize students at frontline for demonstration purposes, says Khashim Vashum

Minister of Transport, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Khashim Vashum has urged the public to refrain from utilizing members of the student community at the frontline of demonstration or any agitation.
The Transport Minister made the remark while inaugurating the three-day 6th State Level Education Festival (EduFest) 2023 at UBC Jubilee Hall, Kamphasom Ukhrul today.
Speaking on the occasion, he raised a call to leave education free from such interferences so that students can learn and acquire knowledge without any hindrance in a pleasant atmosphere.
Upon seeing the overwhelming response of students at the education festival, he commended the organisers of the fest, North East Foundation for Education & Culture (NEFEC) and District Administration.
Khashim Vashum also recalled his educational journey and maintained that hard work and obedience to teachers are the key to success in life.
Speaking as the guest of honour, Ukhrul MLA Ramnganing Muivah advised the gathering that there is no substitute for hardwork and that one will be rewarded for every good deed.
During the inaugural ceremony, Tangkhul artist Winso Chamroy presented a rendition of 'Heal the World' while Model High School, Ukhrul students enthralled the crowd with a choreography performance.
Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of Edufest 2023 Zuringla Kengoo said that the festival was hosted to create a common platform to explore and nurture the talents of students.
She also appealed to all the students to actively participate in all the competition events.
The inauguration function was attended by Ningshem Vashum, SP, Ukhrul; David Kashungnao, CEO, Ukhrul; Nimri Khamrang ADC, ZEO, school Principals and teachers.
Notably, the three day education festival will witness a myriad of literary competitions that include extempore speech, painting, spelling bee, quiz, cultural show, mime and acapella etc.
Altogether 23 schools and 523 students will compete in eight different categories.
