YAS announces cash incentives for medallists

Imphal, October 12 2023:
Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur has stated that the state has begun the process of honouring athletes who represented Manipur at the recently concluded Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games with cash incentives for making the state proud again with their performances.
According to a press release from the department, gold medallists will receive Rs 15 lakh, silver medallists will receive Rs 10 lakh, bronze medallists will receive Rs 8 lakh, and participants will receive Rs 2 lakh.
The YAS department further announced that it started the process of honouring achievers in international events such as the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and gold medallists of National Games with government employment in the various state departments wherever the athlete is deemed fit and on a priority basis as per the event hierarchy.
The release added that chief minister N Biren Singh and sports minister Govindas Konthoujam have both assured that all the qualified athletes of the state who will be representing Manipur in the upcoming 37th National Games 2023 in Goa will be provided with financial assistance from the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur so that they can focus on their sports without worrying about anything else.
