TBCA opposes mass cleanliness drive call on Sunday

Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) expressed their condemnation over the Prime Minister's announcement ' Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghantha, Ek Saath' mass cleanliness drive on Sunday.
In this regard, a press conference was held at TBCA conference hall, Mission compound Alungtang, Ukhrul.
Addressing media persons, Rev Dr Thanshang Horam, Education Secretary TBCA stated that the Tangkhul Christian community welcome the programme Swachh Bharat Abhiyan but questioned the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intention to organise mass cleanliness drive on Sunday.
'It is an act of desacralizing our holy worship day', he said.
Raising concern on the motive behind organising a mass cleanliness drive one day ahead of Gandhi Jayanti celebrated annually on 2nd October, he questioned the ulterior motive of BJP led Central Government upon the minority religious community in the country.
Meanwhile, Rev VA Ayo, finance secretary TBCA said that all churches affiliated to Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association have been informed to refrain from participating in the said event, however the respective churches may adjust their day for social work at their own convenience.
