Imphal, November 08 2023: Expressing concern over the launch of a fresh wave of belligerent campaign against the Meeteis, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has urged the Central and State Governments to take up appropriate action right away and wipe out Kuki terrorists from the soil of Manipur.

The Committee, in a statement, stated that elimination of 'Kuki terrorists' from the State is indispensable to secure the future of Manipuri people.

People will lose all faith in the Government if there is delay in solving the crisis, COCOMI cautioned.

Further urging the Government to immediately drop the two Kuki Ministers from the Cabinet for openly endorsing the Kuki terrorists and the demand to disintegrate Manipur, the Committee said that strict action must be taken up against all the Kuki MLAs who demand separate administration.

COCOMI went on to state that law must be enforced in Kuki dominated hill districts to restore normalcy in the State.

Taking strong exception to the statement of BJP State unit president who recently stated that no BJP MLAs demand bifurcation of administration in Manipur, COCOMI asked whether the BJP leader takes the party to be more important than the State and her people.

Claiming that the violence in Manipur which has entered the seventh month was orchestrated by "Kuki narco terrorists", the Committee added that the Kukis initially tried to drag the Nagas into the conflict but failed.

The Kukis have also been using religious and minority cards to win the sympathy of the international community, COCOMI said and added that the Kuki did get support from a few Christian countries which don't see the true picture of Manipur violence.

In North East India, it is only Mizoram which stands for the cause of the Kuki people, COCOMI continued and added that the Kukis, however, didn't get the support they expected from playing the religious card.

The Kuki narco terrorists launched the violent campaign against Meeteis as they were not happy with the drives against poppy plantations and the measures taken up to prevent influx of illegal immigrants and encroachment on protected and reserved forest areas, COCOMI said.

Claiming that Manipur is flooded with illegal immigrants and the latter have established several unauthorised villages at Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal (Moreh) after entering through the porous Indo-Myanmar border, the Committee contended that the growth of immigrant Kukis population is so unnatural that it is akin to single mother giving birth to three or four children every three months.

Saying that the growth of illegal immigrant population in Manipur has reached an alarming stage, COCOMI claimed that the size of illegal immigrants is bigger than the native Kukis in Manipur now and the same poses a serious threat to both India and Manipur.

It is mostly these illegal immigrants who form terror organisations and have been threatening the integrity and unity of Manipur, COCOMI claimed while asking the Centre and the State Government to deal with the issue right away.

Stating that the killing of SDPO Chingtham Anand Kumar on October 31, abduction of two teenage boys on November 5 and the fierce gunfight which broke out at multiple locations are all indication of Kuki narco-terrorists resuming its campaign, COCOMI maintained that the people will lose all faith in the Centre and the State Government if the 'Kuki terrorists' are not controlled.

Claiming that many of the arms and ammunition looted by Meetei mobs from police armouries have been surrendered, COCOMI claimed that the Meeteis might have returned all the looted arms and armouries by now had the 'Kuki narco terrorists' resumed the fresh wave of violence a little later.

The Meeteis have been anticipating more violence from the 'Kuki narco terrorists' despite all the assurance given by the Government on restoring normalcy, COCOMI said and urged both the Centre and the State Government to take up action against the aggressors and secure the future of Manipuri people.
