Imphal, July 30 2023:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not remain silent nor go on a foreign tour had Gujarat been gripped by similar violence as the one taking place in Manipur, said vice president of JD (U), State unit Sanjoy Ahanthem.
A team of JD (U), Manipur led by Sanjoy went on an inspection tour at Wangoo Selungkhong Upper Primary School and interacted with the displaced folks from Tangjeng under Kumbi AC of Bishnupur whose houses and properties have been razed to the ground by Kuki militants on May 27 .
He also distributed relief materials for the inmates of the relief camp.
The inability of the Indian Government led by Modi to control the nearly three months old Manipur violence has painted a "black spot" on the vibrant history of India which is considered as the largest democracy, Sanjoy added.
Claiming that insincerity of the BJP Government and their disregard for the people led to the escalation of violence in Manipur, Sanjoy said that people have lost faith in the Prime Minister as he didn't give any appointment to meet him the Opposition leaders in Delhi to discuss Manipur issue but went on foreign tours.
The Prime Minister rejecting to meet Opposition leaders is a testament that he doesn't care about the people of Manipur, he further claimed.
An inmate of the relief camp, Tamphamani asked how long can they stay away from their homes at Tangjeng.
There is nothing more important to people than their families and houses but ours have torched and razed to the ground, she said.
She appealed to the Government to expedite the rehabilitation and resettlement works so that they could at least return to their places and start their lives again with whatever little they have.
