Last rites of Ngangom Yaiphaba conducted

The last rites of Ngangom Yaiphaba alias Navy (29), son of Sanak-homba of Sugnu Ward No 2 Mandop Leikai was held on Sunday.
Yaiphaba was feared killed during an attack by Kuki militants on May 28 but his mortal remains were never recovered.
As a result, family members conducted his last rites with 'Pangong' tree plank as per customary practice.
A memorial service was held at his home from where, a procession was carried out by local people and Kha Manipur Kanba Lup Sugnu, up to Sugnu Keithel where another memorial service was held in honour of Yaiphaba along with Yumlembam Shiva of Sugnu Makha Leikai and Khoirom Romario of Langthabal Man-trikhong Mayai Leikai, who were killed in the May 28 attack.
Later, the last rites of Yaiphaba was conducted at his native village.
Members of Committee for Peace and Social Harmony, Kakching also participated in the eyent and handed over financial assistance to Yaiphaba's mother and elder sister.
The committee is a unified body of different CSOs representing villages and communities living in Khangshim, Minoy, Laijing, Langol, Sora, Irengband, Kuraopokpi, Heikrakpokpi, Pallel, Punal and Mantak among others.
Committee member Pukhrambam So-marendro informed that the committee has been providing financial assistance to the next of kin of the victims of the ongoing crisis in the state.
Somarendro also decried the lack of action and biased nature shown by Government of India and central forces in the ongoing crisis in the state, which is only protracting the violence.
He called for unity among the Meetei community to counter the offensive, which aims at disintegrating the state, to derail any movement for separate administration, to flush out Chin-Kuki narco-terror-ists, and implement NRC to detect and deport illegal immigrants.
