Local-made bomb still unrecovered

Imphal, July 30 2023:
A live locally-made bomb, which had been fired by Kuki militants and landed at the edge of a courtyard belonging to one Ningthoujam Mutum (75) of Terakhongsangbi Maning Leikai under Bishnupur PS, is yet to be recovered by security forces even after three days.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle in this regard on Sunday, Mutum recounted that heavily-armed Kuki militants from Monghat, Geljang and Tharoilok sides attacked the area on July 27 around 7pm.During the attack, a locally-made bomb fired by the Kuki militants landed near to the residential gate adjacent to his farmland.
The bomb, fortunately, did not explode after landing at the spot.
The next day, he informed the local club about the bomb, which then promptly contacted Moirang PS on the same day requesting for retrieval of the bomb.
However, neither the police nor the authority concerned has arrived even after three days to recover the explosive or to take any follow-up action.
Stating that the presence of the bomb has left his family, especially the children terrified amidst the fear of attacks by Kuki militants: Mutum appealed to the authority concerned to dispose the explosive as soon as possible and help alleviate the fear from their hearts and minds.
