Committee pledges to defeat Kukis in their 'war'

Moirang Kendra Civil Defence Coordinating Committee, which has been formed after a consultative meeting attended by around 30 clubs of Moirang assembly constituency to defend the unabated attacks carried out by armed Kuki militants, has pledged to defeat the armed Kukis in their 'war' in Moi-rangarea.
Addressing media persons at Moirang on Sunday, Committee spokesperson Th Anan-da exuded confidence that the Kukis can be defeated in their 'war' carried out against the Meitei community and stressed the need for all to work unitedly to taste victory.
He further informed that the armed Kuki militants have been carrying out 'area domination' activities in the revenue villages of Bishnupur district, constructing bunkers and occupying areas under Torbung gram panchayat.
The DC concerned has been informed of the situation and urged to take up necessary actions but no effective measure has been forthcoming so far, he lamented.
The spokesperson also informed that villagers of Torbung, Phougakchao Ikhai, Terakhongshangbi, Khu-dekpi, Tronglaobi, Moirang, Ngangkhalawai, Thamnapok-pi, Sunusiphai, Naranseina and Phubala are not in a position to take up agricultural activities as they are under constant attacks from the armed Kuki militants.
Around 10,000 pari of agricultural land of the Meiteis in Moirang assembly constituency have been taken over by the armed Kuki militants, who are providing protection to the Kuki farmers in tilling
the fields, he added.
Stating that the 'war' in Manipur is intensifying as is evident from gun fights between armed Kuki militants and village volunteers and security forces occurring every day, Ananda said that the committee formed with the primary objective to defeat the armed Kuki militants will extend every possible help.
We have to come together and unitedly fight the armed Kuki militants and save Manipur fromf disintegration, Jie' reiterated.
The press conference was also attended by committee president K Rana, convenor K Rameshore and spokesperson A Shyamkumar.
