Imphal, July 30 2023:
To highlight the key issues besieging the State , the Delhi Meetei Coordination Committee (DMCC) is all set to organise a sit in protest in association with the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on August 6 .
The sit-in demonstration will be staged under the theme ""Let's Unite for a United Manipur," said a statement issued by COCOMI.
As per COCOMI, the demonstration will question the 'reluctance' of the Indian Government to take action against Kuki narco-terrorists.
Other points which the COCOMI and DMCC intend to highlight are that the threat to Manipur's integrity is against the National interest and the concept of unity in diversity and that the country should stand against all forms of terrorism.
Saying that Manipur hills shouldn't be converted into another Golden Triangle nor should there be disintegration or division of the State in any form, COCOMI continued that the Government of India shouldn't legitimize narco-terrorists with SoO agreements.
SoO protects narco-terrorists and narco-funding empowers SoO, the Committee continued and asked the Government to withdraw the SoO pact at the earliest.
It further urged the Government to restore peace in Manipur.
Claiming that Assam Rifles has failed to protect Manipur from cross border narco-terrorist aggression, COCOMI asked the Centre to replace Assam Rifles from Indo-Myanmar border management with other organizations.
The Committee further said that the security forces have failed to protect the Meetei farmers from the onslaught of Kuki militants.
COCOMI appealed to all Manipuri residents, students, professionals etc who are in Delhi to take part in the event to send a clear message to the Centre about the alleged demographic aggression in Manipur.
Meanwhile, COCOMI said that a three member delegation of the Committee had a series of meetings with various Meetei diaspora groups, CSOs and women organizations in Delhi and other parts of NCR from July 24 to 29 .
After several round of discussions and meetings, the Delhi Meetei Coordination Committee (DMCC), an apex body of Meetei CSOs and organizations in Delhi comprising of Delhi Meetei Forum (DMF), Delhi Meetei (DM), Delhi Heritage Society (DHS), International Meetei Organization (IMO), World Meetei Council, Delhi (WMC), Liklam Ngakpa, Eramdam Manipur (EM), United Kakching Students' Delhi (UNIKAS) have resolved to work in coordination with COCOMI and strengthen the campaign in the National Capital on all fronts, it added.
