State forces still stuck at Tengnoupal AR camp

Additional state forces including police commandos despatched to the border town of Moreh to contain violence are still at 20 Assam Rifles camp in Tengnoupal.
Troops of 20 AR and Manipur police commandos had a gun-fight with Kuki militants at Moreh on July 26 after Kuki mob including women torched houses abandoned already by the Meetei.
After the incident, state government despatched additional force to Moreh but the convoy was blocked by large number of Kuki women at Tengnoupal.
The blockade remains in force till Sunday.
Sources informed that tension remains high in Tengnoupal and Moreh after the state government decided to send more state forces to Moreh amidst the demand for removal of entire state force from the border town.
The sources quoted a Kuki leader in Tengnoupal as say ing that tension escalated in the border town and Teng noupal district headquarters after some news channels report about some terror ists stationing in Moreh and killing one police commando and attacking BSF camp.
The news, however, was found to be cooked up so that more police commando could be sent to Moreh and start resettlement of Mete community in the border town.
Such mischievous report at this juncture when the conflict is yet to subside will not bring peace and harmony, the Kuki leader said adding that Kuki-Zo community cannot accept the step taken by the government.
According to the Kuki leader from Tengnoupal, who spoke to some journalists, more than 70 percent of the population in Tengnoupal district are Kuki-Zo community but no officer from community is posted to enforce law & order.
