Langol sit-in protests presence of AR

Imphal, July 30 2023:
Langol Apunba Meira Paibi staged a sit-in protest at Langol Lairembi Leikai community hall on Sunday, demanding non-deployment of Assam Rifles in areas of Langol.
Speaking on the sidelines, a protestor named Leishungbam Modhubala recounted that 2-3 personnel of AR came to Langol on the afternoon of July 28 and inspected the area.
The locals protested on the same against any deployment of AR in the area and the authority concerned was also urged not to deploy the force in Langol.
She then cautioned that the people will take up necessary protests to drive out any AR deployed in the area, if it was done so against the wishes of the people.
Decrying the bias attitude of AR personnel in the conflict, she stated that the people no longer trust AR, while adding that as the Gorkha Regiment is already present in the area, there is no need for deploying AR in Langol.
She further demanded the withdrawal of SoO agreement with Kuki militants and implement of NRC in Manipur immediately, while urging the government to restore peace ana normalcy in the state at the earliest During the sit-in, the protestors held placards inscribed with the slogans like "Implement NRC Immediately", "Flush out Narco terrorists and illegal immigrants", "Protect the territorial integrity of Ma nipur", "Abrogate SoO immediately", and "Don't deploy AR, Withdraw AR from Manipur".
The protestors also observed a one-minute silence as a mark of respect to all those who lost their lives during the conflict.
