FOCS meet plans rally till KPI, Ccpur on Aug 13

The day-long convention organised by Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) on the theme 'Let's unite for our motherland' at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound on Sunday resolved to form a joint committee to steer the people's movement and carry out a mass rally till Churachandpur and Kang pokpi on August 13 as proposed by women folks from violence-affected areas and district level organisations.
According to FOCS president Th Manihar, the convention was organised as per the wish of the people to unite the Ima Lups and CSOs to jointly tackle the Kuki terrorists and to form a temporary joint organisation (Apunba Lup) so as to take initiative under common agenda.
Though Ima Lups and CSOs have different ideas, the objective to save the motherland is common, he noted, adding that it is time to work together for a "common cause.
Further stating that the people would not only defy the Kuki militants' aggression but will also expose the hidden agenda of the central government, the nefarious intentions of neighbouring states and attempt for forming Zou state by the Zous, he opined that people can defeat such devilish plans only when they work together by soliciting suggestion from people living in different parts of the world.
He also Appealed to the media to shoulder the responsibility of neutralising the false narratives by the Kukis and further urged to work together under a common agenda so as to save the motherland.
The convention moderated by MU Anthropology Department retired HOD Dr W Nabakumar was attended by DM University associate professor Dr Arambam Noni, MU History Department retired HOD Dr N Joykumar, MU Economics Department retired HOD Dr Ch Priyoranjan, MU Law Department HOD Dr Yumnam Pre-mananda, retired sessions judge Aribam Nou-tuneshwari, journalist Chabungbam Birendra and retired Lt Col T Heino as resource persons.
