Imphal, September 19 2023:
The double engine BJP Government at the Centre and the State "do not want to end the present crisis," said Janata Dal (United) Manipur State vice president Sanjoy Ahanthem, who met violence affected people of Torbung, at Phougakchao Ikhai today.
Talking to the affected people at Phougakchao Ikhai, Sanjoy said it is evident from their action that the BJP Governments at the Centre and the State "do not take the present crisis and the situation seriously" .
While preaching love for Manipur on their lips, they are trying to destroy Manipur's united structure and territorial boundary, he alleged.
"The BJP only cares about vote-bank politics.
They do not care about Manipur's integrity.
The Government of India's intelligence [service] knows very well that the present Manipur crisis is all about Kuki narco-terrorists trying to create their own administration and carry out illegal scale poppy cultivation on forest land on an industrial scale," he said.
Before elections, BJP promised many things and encouraged people to hoist their (BJP) flags at their homes.
Believing in the "false" promises, people voted BJP to power.
Now, houses of thousands of people including the homes of those who had hoisted BJP flags have been burnt down by Kuki narco-terrorists.
Thousands have been displaced and made homeless, he added.
Even after nearly four months of violence and illegal activities perpetrated by the Kuki narco-terrorists, the Government is unable to control them and end the unrest.
This has caused suspicion among the people that there may be some hidden agenda or reasons behind this inaction of the Government, Sanjoy said.
While the BJP claims that it understands the people and their aspirations, their Governments in the Centre and the State have not done anything that would prove this tall claim.
Several Ministers and MLAs of the ruling party are camping in Delhi at present, however, the Prime Minister has not met them to positively discuss the situation and end the crisis.
While Manipur is burning, the Ministers and the MLAs are camping in Delhi without holding any fruitful talk with the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister, he claimed.
Sanjoy also alleged he wasn't allowed to meet the violence affected people of Torbung, Phougakchao Ikhai for a long time.
The JD(U) State vice president extended monetary assistance to the victims of Torbung, Phougakchao Ikhai.
