Skill training for IDPs inaugurated

As part of its sustained welfare measures for internally displaced persons (IDPs), who are being sheltered at different relief camps due to the ongoing unrest in the state, Churachandpur district administration in collaboration with Bridging Ministries launched a skill training programme for IDPs at M Songgel ECA compound relief centre on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the programme, Churachandpur Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar said that the concern of the district administration is not just providing relief materials, but also skilling people and enabling them get decent job for their livelihood.
He asked the IDPs to keep in touch with the district administration so that their needs are looked into by the officials concerned, while also calling upon the cooperation of all concerned towards this end.
Speaking on the occasion, additional DC Thangboi Gangte stressed on the importance for provision of relevant vocational and technical skills to the IDPs so as to enable them to find work, build their careers, and contribute productively to society.
Bridging Ministries coordinator Jangminlal Mate said that the NGO is involved in a mission to help out certain unprivileged individuals who need little attention to realise their dreams with their capacity and limited resources.
It is committed to help the displaced people so that they can be of help, no matter how small, to face foreseeable economic challenges.
Skill training such as tailoring will be imparted to the IDPs by trainers from Bridging Ministries, he informed.
The inaugural programme was attended by district nodal officer (Relief Camp) Mannuamching and other officials from the district administration amongst other.
It is pertinent to mention here that the district administration had also conducted computer training programme for displaced students.
