Imphal, September 19 2023:
Urging the state legislators who are presently in Delhi to remain united and not to come back with divided resolutions, Lukmai Sellup has appealed to the MLAs to understand the sentiments of the Manipur public and take resolutions which will not compromise the territorial integrity of the state.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Monday, Lukmai Sellup secretary Asem Nirmala termed as unfortunate that Union Home minister Amit Shah asked the state MLAs in Delhi to control the Meira Paibis and he will solve the Manipur crisis in 10 days.
The Meira paibis have come out to defend the atrocities committed by the Assam Rifles against the Meitei community.
Amit Shah's statement is akin to supporting the Kukis and blaming the Meira Paibis, she said and reminded all concerned that Meira Paibis are trying to prevent attack on the Meitei villages and volunteers by the armed Kuki militants.
The meira paibis are not here to escalate the crisis but to save the Meiteis.
The union home minister is trying to tarnish the image of the meira paibis, she added.
