Imphal, September 19 2023:
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur has taken strong exception to the killing of the Indian Army personnel on leave Serto Thangthang Kom and asked the perpetrators to clarify the motive behind the killing at the earliest.
The Federation shared the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family.
Notably, the slain soldier was abducted from his home at Tarung, Neikanlong, Happy Valley in Imphal West on September 16 while his mortal remains were found the next morning at Khuningthek under Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal East.
In a statement, the Federation said that the Kuki narco-terrorists have been spreading lies and mischievous propaganda to create division among the indigenous people as they are on the brink of losing the conflict against the Meeteis.
Claiming that the Kuki narco-terrorists have also been scheming to win the favour of indigenous tribes under Naga community amid the ongoing crisis, FOCS reasoned that such killing of the Army jawan who belonged to Kom tribe may create misunderstanding among the fellow Manipuris.
"It is only our adversary who will be benefited when there is misunderstanding among the indigenous people," FOCS said.
The indigenous people of Manipur need to be aware of the different tactics being employed by Kuki narco-terrorists to turn the indigenous tribes against the Meeteis.
Reiterating that Kuki narco-terrorists have been scheming to drive a wedge among the indigenous people to fulfil their aspiration, the Federation claimed that the Indian Government also seems to be using the illegal immigrants as their agent to disturb the unity of Manipuris.
The Government must drive away these illegal immigrants who don't have any land of their own and create trouble, the Federation demanded.
