AR seizes liquor, holds display of weapons

Imphal, September 19 2023:
A combined team of Army and Assam Rifles on Monday seized huge quantity of illicit liquor estimated to cost Rs 80,000 from Bethel in Churachandpur district.
According to PRO IGAR (S), during a routine vehicle check the security team intercepted a Mahindra Bolero (MN 04 A 5125) driven by one Tonggin Haokip, son of Sonam Haokip of Jangnom village and a Ford Figo (AS 11 N 9744) driven by one Ngamminlen Baite of B Salvaphai village, both in Churachandpur district.
Informing that the duo was found transporting illegal liquor of Myanmar origin, the PRO added that the seized items include 46 bottles of Whisky Imperial Blue (700 ml), 461 bottles of Star Honey Lemon Mix Liquor (20 per cent alcohol, 640 ml each), 47 bottles of Honey Lemon Premium Quality liquor (30 per cent alcohol, 640 ml each) and 24 bottles of Super Honey Lemon Premium Quality (30 per cent alcohol, 640 ml each) .
The PRO further informed that the seized items along with the detainees and the vehicles have been handed to Churachandpur police station.
On the other hand, with the aim to continue its mission to bridge the gap between civilians and the military, troopers of AR organised "Know Your Army Mela," at T Minou during which weapons were displayed followed by an enlightening lecture on weaponry.
