Skill training programme for displaced persons launched

A 'Skill Training Programme for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)' was launched today at M Songgel ECA compound relief centre in Churachandpur district as a welfare measures for IDPs taking refuge at different relief camps due to the ongoing unrest in the State.
The skill training programme was organised by the District Administration Churachandpur in collaboration with an NGO, Bridging Ministries.
Inaugurating the training programme, Dharun Kumar, Deputy Commissioner said that the concern of the District Administration is not just providing relief materials, but also skilling people and enabling them get decent jobs for their livelihood.

He asked the IDPs to keep in touch with the District Administration so that their needs are looked into by the officials concerned.
He also called upon the cooperation of all towards this end.
Speaking at the occasion, Thangboi Gangte, Additional DC said that relevant vocational and technical skills need to be provided to the IDPs so as to enable them to find work, build their careers, and contribute productively to society.
Jangminlal Mate, Coordinator of Bridging Ministries said that they are involved in a mission to help out certain unprivileged individuals who need little attention to realise their dreams with their capacity and limited resources.
It is committed to chip in to help the displaced people so that they can be of little help to face economic challenges which are foreseeable.
Skill training such as tailoring will be imparted to the IDPs by trainers from Bridging Ministries.
The inaugural programme was attended by Mannuamching, District Nodal Officer (Relief Camp) and other officials from the District Administration among others.
It is pertinent to mention here that the District Administration had also conducted computer training programmes for the displaced students.
