Huge cache of arms, ammunition recovered

Imphal, October 13 2023:
During the last 24 hours, security forces conducted search operations at the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts and recovered 27 arms, 306 ammunition, 11 explosives and 85 other warlike items, said a statement issued by the Police Control Room.
Meanwhile, teams of Imphal West District Police arrested two active members of KCP (City Meitei) from Thangmeiband near Hot Bite Cafe, Thangmeiband at 12.30 pm.
The two arrested persons have been identified as Ningthoujam Chalamba Singh (26), s/o Late N Subol Singh of Khurai Sajor Leikai and Yendrembam Goutam Meitei (25), s/o Y Ahongjao Meitei of Sekta Mayai Leikai.
The duo disclosed that they have been working under the command of self-styled chairman Brojen alias City Meitei since June 2023 and on his advice, they demanded huge sums of money from shop owners of Imphal West and Imphal East area for their party fund.
The police recovered one 9 mm pistol RFI along with one magazine loaded with 4 live rounds bearing body no 18305913 (suspected to be looted from security forces), one pistol marked as ".32 7.65 PISTOL MADE IN JAPAN" along with one magazine loaded with 3 live rounds, one black Baleno car without registration number, three mobile handsets and two wallets containing 2 Aadhaar cards and Rs 200 .
On the other hand, a combined team of Imphal West District Police and security forces conducted a search operation at Kameng, Khamran and Mana Ingkhol area of Imphal West district from 3 am to 4.45 am today.
The combined forces searched about 150 houses in the three villages and recovered three carbine, five carbine magazines, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, one 7.65 lama pistol with magazine, three 36 HE grenades, one air gun with scope, 67 nos of 9mm round, 78 nos of 0.45mm round, one plastic magazine of INSAS rifle, eight bullet-proof jackets, 13 pairs of police uniform and one pant, eight pairs of jungle boots, 19 dummy rifles (wood), three wireless set with four chargers, receipt booklet of KCP (PWG Kangla), one attendance register, six mobile phones and one Maruti Gypsy without registration number plate.
The recovered items were handed over to Lamshang PS for further legal action.
Separately, a combined team of security forces and Kangpokpi District Police recovered arms and ammunition during a search operation carried out at Singda Kuki village from 4 am to 7.50 am.
During the search operation one improvised pumpi cannon, two improvised projectile launchers, two muzzle-loading rifles, one .303 rifle, three .303 magazines with ammunition, two country-made rounds and one lathode bomb were recovered.
Another search operation was conducted by a combined team of Churachandpur District Police and security forces from 5 am to 9 am and recovered one .303 rifle with 2 live rounds and one tear gas gun with 2 shells of tear gas.
Notably, these recovered weapons were found to be part of arms and ammunition looted from DHQ CCP Arms Kote.
A combined team of Bishnupur District Police and security forces carried out a search operation at Charoi Khullen under Loktak PS from 6 am to 8.15 am today.
The combined team recovered one 9 mm carbine with one magazine, one .303 rifle, 32 sniper rifles with magazine and four rounds, 7.62 mm (AK series ammunition) with 90 rounds, two No 36 HE hand grenade, six 7.62 mm SLR ammunition, five No.33 detonators, forty-five 9mm ball ammunition, safety fuse (35 cm approx) and one plastic container of gunpowder.
A case has been taken up at Loktak Police Station for necessary legal action.
