Public discussion on "Resolution to the years long conflict in Manipur" conducted

A public discussion on the theme "Resolution to the years long conflict in Manipur" was held today at Yangoiningthou Community hall, Bishnupur Keithel jointly organised by Indigenous Peoples Organisation Manipur (IPOM) and Federation of Civil Society Organisation, Manipur (FOCS) .
Speaking at the occasion, IPOM vice-president Kh Chandramani Khumancha made an earnest appeal to the insurgent groups to hold peaceful dialogue with the Indian Government so as to protect the people of Manipur openly and to uphold the State's integrity.
He said, 'The unprecedented scale of communal violence unleashed by the armed Kukis over the past 5 months have severely impacted the Meiteis where many have been killed and thousands have been rendered homeless' .

In view of the above situation, the public discussion has been held to appeal to the insurgent Meitei/Meetei groups to come to the table and hold peaceful dialogue to pave way for the welfare of Manipur keeping intact the unity and integrity thereby protecting the indigenes from the external aggressors, he said.
The public discussion unanimously resolved to appeal to the insurgent groups to hold peaceful dialogue with the State and Indian Government to help in bringing an end to the communal conflict in Manipur.
The public discussion was also attended by Kumbi College Associate Professor, Leichombam Gopal; FOCS secretary, Angom Punilkumar; and IPOM secretary Rakesh Moirangthem among others as the presidium members.
The attendees also expressed the need of uniting the numerous organisations and to strive collectively for the cause of the motherland.
A two minute silence was also observed in the honour of the martyrs of the ongoing crisis.
