Cong's PR call intended to prolong people's woes: BJP

The resolution adopted at the meeting of the Congress Working Committee in Delhi demanding President's Rule in Manipur is nothing but akin to fuelling the fire and compound suffering of the already grief-stricken people of Manipur, stated BJP Manipur Pradesh, on Friday.
Addressing media persons at Thambal Shanglen in Nityaipat Chuthek, here, on Friday, BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary K Saratkumar stated that the resolution adopted by the Working Congress Committee on October 9 for removal of chief minister N Biren and imposition of PR in Manipur testify ultimate objective to prolong the distressful situation besieging Manipur and its people.
He further stated that people will suffer more if PR is imposed in the state while claiming that such demand of the Congress is for self-interest and not to mitigate hardships faced by the public.
Saratkumar also charged the Congress of trying to make Manipur return to the days of the Congress rule where many people were slain including the killing of Sanjit and Rabina in broad day light by security forces.
He also enquired as to why the Congress did not turn up in the meeting convened to discuss the issue of Manipur and restore peace in the state during the three-day visit of the Union Home minister to Manipur.
He also stated that the chief minister, ministers and MLAs are working on ways and means to restore peace in the state and advised the Congress to contribute its mite in bringing normalcy in the state.
BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary L Deven, secretaries K Vikram and K Inaocha were also present during the press conference.
