Imphal, October 13 2023:
The Alliance for Socialist Unity, Kangleipak (ASUK) too has called a total shutdown all over Manipur from 6 am to 6 pm on October 15 .
After the lapse of British paramountcy in 1947, Manipur regained its independence but within two years, Manipur was annexed by India on October 15, 1949.Since then, October 15 is being observed as Black Day, ASUK conveyed in a statement issued by its Publicity Committee.
Since the alleged annexation of Manipur by India, the people of Manipur have been traversing on a path of degeneration.
It started with physical domination but now the minds, outlook and philosophy of the people of Manipur too have been colonised, it alleged.
Social discipline as well as moral values have plummeted to the nadir and the root cause of this downfall is colonialism, it said.
For the past 74 years, the Government of India has been working to 'colonise' the mind and outlook of Manipuri people and India is now quite successful, ASUK alleged.
The ongoing conflict between Meetei and Kuki too reflects epistemic injustice.
It appears that the Kuki leaders do not understand the alien rule has been scheming to exterminate both the Meetei and Kuki communities and that the two communities, whether one likes it or not, cannot be separated, ASUK remarked.
Instead of exploring realistic ways of bringing a settlement between the two communities, many groups have been seeking the blessing of those people who are in charge of the alien and conspiring to ignite the conflict, to bring an end to the conflict, it alleged.
"Understanding epistemic injustice, colonization of philosophy and colonization of mind, and struggling to decolonize ourselves would go a long way in securing our future", ASUK asserted.
It said that the first step to decolonize the mind is seeking epistemic justice.
The alleged colonial rule of India is the biggest challenge and it is paramount to understand this alien rule thoroughly in order to overcome the challenge, it said.
It further informed that the total shutdown will not cover emergency and medical services, essential services and religious ceremonies.
