Imphal, October 13 2023:
The Joint Coordination Committee, Lairikyengbam Leikai and Coordinating Body, Imphal have appealed to Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) to withdraw its boycott of the state government in view of the recent developments following the efforts made by both the central and state governments, and also the Kuki bodies' request for claiming the bodies belonging to their community.
In a press meet held at the office of Coordinating Body in Khurai Lamlong on Friday, its spokesperson Thoidingjam Bon Khurai said that steps were taken to protect reserved and protected forests in accordance with FRA, 2008, including carrying out mass tree plantation drives which were often obstructed by Kukis.
The Kukis also dug up the trees planted at Gwaltabi by the Forest Minister in connection with World Environment Day.
The miscreants were arrested and legal action initiated, with the cases pending in the courts.
Meanwhile, the so-called Kuki-Zo settlements, namely Zomi Villa, Haokip Veng, and Khongsai Veng were named only to indicate their presence in the area.
However, reality was that it was to further their separatist agenda.
An example of this is the provocative activities being carried out at Thangjing hill and the encroachment at Hangoi Pat since 2008, which was named as H Tuinom Zone in 2015 and attempts being made to include the same under the jurisdiction of Saikul Block, Kangpokpi district.
On May 3, houses of indigenous Meitei people were set on fire to drive them away, which is the first kind of incident to happen in the history of the world.
This was simply a war waged by narco-terrorists against the Meetei community.
Even the central government recognised that the conflict in Manipur has been caused by illegal immigrants.
However, the Indian army failed to completely uproot the narco-terrorists and instead of defending the people from the attacks of narco-terrorists, they seem to be aiding the latter.
Most recently, similar incidents happened in Yaingangpokpi and its surrounding areas which is highly condemnable, he remarked and urged the state government to take strict action against the security personnel involved in the incident.
Bon then continued that Relief Committee, JNIMS has been extending assistance to different relief camps, along with JNIMS Pharmacy Association.
So far, around 1878 people have been treated due to their joint support, he informed, while urging all concerned not to put unwanted pressure on the Association.
If the Association breaks off from the Committee, it would put immense stress on the people, he said, and appealed to all not to repeat such acts in the interest of the people in need.
