Aadhaar card of displaced Kukis: Nagaland says no to change in address

All Aadhaar operators and common service centres operating under Medziphema sub-division in Nagaland have been directed not to entertain change of address of displaced Kukis from Manipur.
The direction came after some displaced Kukis from Manipur approached the Common Service Centre for change of address in their Aadhaar card.
An order to this effect issued yesterday by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Medziphema, Nagaland said the change of address of the displaced Kukis may lead to "future complications" .
It has come to notice that some displaced Kukis from Manipur had approached CSC operator for change of address in their Aadhaar.
Therefore, it is directed to all the Aadhaar operator/Common service centre operation under Medziphema sub-division not to entertain change of address in the Aadhaar documents as it may lead to future complications, read the order issued by P James Swu, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Medziphema, Nagaland.
According to a report published by The Morung Express on June 23, there were at least 2,100 displaced Kukis from Manipur taking refuge in Nagaland and around 1,200 of them were taking shelter in the Medziphema sub-division.
As per the 1901 Census there were about 26 Kuki villages with 128 persons per village approximately bringing the total Kuki population in Nagaland to 3,328, reported The Morung Express.
The violence in Manipur first erupted on May 3 and the series of violent clashes that followed have taken more than 140 lives and displaced thousands of people belonging to the Meitei and the Kuki communities.
According to several reports, there are hundreds of displaced Kukis taking refuge in Mizoram, Nagaland and other neighbouring States of Manipur.
