Imphal, July 12 2023:
Senior Citizens' Club, Manipur strongly condemned the ambiguous statements of Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga, expressing in his twitter sometimes regarding Greater Mizoram or Zo-unification and sometimes about Kuki Zalengam.
In a release, the Club opined that it would have been better and more sensible for Zoramthanga, being a chief minister of a state, if he had shared his views after careful examination about the real causes of the present Manipur crisis and its pragmatic solutions.
His one sided worries about the Zo victims only clearly shows his communal mindset, the Senior citizens said.
The present Manipur crisis is the result of the unlawful aspirations and demands of a separately administered area in Manipur by the Kuki refugees/foreigners who have been expelled by Myanmar and Bangladesh for their evil designs, it continued, while pointing out that after their ultimate defeats in Myanmar and Bangladesh the Kuki 'goons' are dreaming of a separate homeland/administered area in Manipur which is a multi-communal peaceful society that have been existing for a long time and this action is ultimately challenging the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The Meiteis will not mind had Zoramthan ga let the Zo Kukis settle in Mizoram if he cares so much for them but not in Manipur.
It is a historical fact that the present Mizoram was once a part of Lushai Hills of the then Assam State whereas Manipur before merger with India in 1949 was an Independent, kingdom with more than 2000 years of living history, the release maintained, while stating that it does not mind if the Kukis leave the state of Manipur if they do not want to live under its government.
But the people of Manipur will oppose tooth and nail their demand for a separately administered area within the state of Manipur, it affirmed.
