MLA inspects temporary housing project site

Kakching AC MLA Mayanglambam Ramesh-war On Wednesday assessed progress of construction of the pre fabricated houses at Yaithibi Loukol, meant to house people displaced by the ethnic violence.
The MLA was accompanied by Ihoiibal DC Ahanthem Subash, Kakching DC So-morjit Salam, Thoubal SP Sachidananda Soiba, Kakching SP Bikram and officials of both districts.
Speaking on the sidelines, MLA Rameshwar informed that target has been set to complete the project within ten days and provision of regular water supply and education facility for students at the resettlement areas.
He continued that although the location may be close to the hills, the area is very secure, while adding that the government is trying its level best to help people return to their normal lives.
The MLA further said that M/s BTC Company, Than-gal Bazar is tasked with the construction of 200 pre-fabricated houses each for the affected people from Thoubal and Kakching districts.
For the first phase, 200 houses will be constructed, followed by allocation of 200 houses in the second phase and 250 in the third phase, which is under process, for accommodation of around 640 displaced people staying in various relief camps of Kakching district.
The construction for the first phase began a fortnight ago, he informed.
