Imphal, July 12 2023:
The Senior Citizens' Club (SCC), Manipur has accused Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga of having a communal mindset.
In a statement, the Club said that they condemn the ambiguous statements of the Mizoram Chief Minister on Greater Mizoram, Zo-unification and Kuki Zalangam.
It would have been better and more sensible had the Chief Minister of the neighbouring State spoken or written about the true causes of the Manipur crisis and its pragmatic solutions, the SCC said and claimed that the one-sided worries of Zoramthanga, however, show his communal mindset.
Claiming that the violence in Manipur is triggered by Kuki refugees and foreigners by demanding a separate administration, the Club alleged that this group of people are dreaming of establishing a homeland or separate administration for Kukis in Manipur as they couldn't do the same in Myanmar and Bangladesh.
The Club further claimed that Kuki terrorists who are armed with sophisticated weapons have been attacking the Meeteis, their properties and places of worships as the latter stand against their 'unlawful design/acts' .
Most of these Kuki refugees were expelled from Myanmar and Bangladesh for waging wars against the countries, the Club alleged and claimed that the Kuki terrorists have been indulging in narco-terrorism by planting poppies wherever they settle.
Saying that the Mizoram Chief Minister has been depicting the Meeteis as the sole perpetrators of the heinous crimes, the SCC asked Zoramthanga to let all Kukis settle in Mizoram if he cares so much about them.
Further stating that the Club won't mind if the Kukis decide to leave Manipur and settle in Mizoram, the SCC contended that the people of Manipur, however, would never allow disintegration of Manipur.
