Imphal, August 10 2023:
A team of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Pune City reached here today and took stock of the three-months old violent crisis.
The team which landed here at the initiative of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar visited relief camps and interacted with the displaced people.
Later speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, NCP National spokesperson and Nationalist Youth Congress president Dhiraj Sharma said that NCP National president Sharad Pawar is deeply concerned with the protracted violent crisis besieging Manipur.
"We are pained on seeing the difficulties being endured by the displaced people.
They are facing shortages of clothing items, food and medicines", Dhiraj said.
He said that the people of India are with the people of Manipur affected by the violence.
Saying that the BJP Governments of both the Centre and the State should work sincerely to bring peace and normalcy in Manipur at the earliest, Dhiraj asserted that the violence could have been resolved much earlier had the Central Government paid due attention in time.
It was rather unfortunate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was touring foreign countries instead of working to control and resolve the crisis which unfolded in Manipur, he rued.
He also decried the Prime Minister's stoic silence on the Manipur crisis.
Had the Prime Minister shared any empathy with the people of Manipur, he would have visited the State and controlled the violence.
It appears Narendra Modi has forgotten that Manipur is a part of India, Dhiraj said.
Saying that they would present a report to Sharad Pawar regarding their visit to the strife-torn State, the Nationalist Youth Congress president said that they would send some relief materials for the displaced people.
NCP Manipur Pradesh president Soram Iboyaima maintained that the violent crisis besieging Manipur is not a communal conflict but it is a result of the widespread offensive launched by Kuki militants in association with infiltrators from Myanmar.
He said that the Central Government should do everything to bring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
NCP Pune City president and former Mayor Prashant Jagtap, NCP Pune City vice-president Sandeep Dharu Balawadekar, Nationalist Yuvti Congress, Pune City president Sushma Arjun Satpute, Nationalist Youth Congress National secretary Javed Inamdar, Nationalist Youth Congress Pune City president Kishore Kumble and many others were also present at the press meet.
