Imphal, August 10 2023:
CPI National Central Committee member Dr Moirangthem Nara has accused the Central government of insincere in controlling the ongoing crisis in the state.
Addressing a press conference at Irawat Bhawan here on Thursday after a meeting of the CPI state council, Dr Nara said that BJP is boasting of double engine government in the state.
The Centre is aware of the root cause of the current crisis and how the illegal infiltrators in collusion with Kuki militants in the state created the situation.
However, the Centre has not taken up against the militants so far, he said.
He also said that appropriate actions should be taken up against the 10 Kuki MLAs under the procedure and constitution of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The former minister also expressed suspicion of the Central government is trying to gain politically by prolonging the violence.
There are tell-tale signs of the Central government being lethargic in ending the violence and restoring peace in the state.
The present crisis in the state is a significant chapter in the history of Manipur.
Hundreds of lives have been lost and tens of thousands of civilians are displaced while students are being deprived of education.
Displaced people are financially broke.
Even though the BJP government is not sincere in controlling the situation, CPI is committed in its attempt to restore peace and the party's MPs played major role in bringing up the issue in the Parliament, he said.
Dr Nara also hailed the role of Meetei women in safeguarding the lives, properties and territory of the state and its people.
