Imphal, August 10 2023:
Both the Centre and the state government are capable of bringing back peace and normalcy in Manipur within a short period of time but why the violence which erupted on May 3 still continues is questionable, stated Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) national spokesperson Dhiraj Sharma.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Thursday, Dhiraj Sharma said that a team of NCP is currently in Manipur to take stock of prevailing situation and help people affected by the on-going violence.
The party has no political agenda in visiting Manipur but wants to share suffering of the people of Manipur.
Entire people of India are with the people of Manipur at this hour of crisis and want to bring back peace.
Centre and state government are capable of containing the violence and bring back normalcy within a short period of time, he said, adding that the government must shoulder the responsibility to resolve the crisis with proactive steps.
When the people of Manipur are suffering for a long time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi never paid attention to the strife torn state and rather went on foreign tour.
What the PM should understand is that the people of Manipur need are attention of PM and take up steps to bring back peace and normalcy in the state at the earliest, Dhiraj Sharma said, adding that the six-member team of NCP currently in Manipur will take stock of the situation and place a report to party president Shared Pawar.
He also said that the NCP team has visited several relief camps immediately after arriving in the state and heard grievances of people residing in relief camps.
