Rally marks 100 days of ethnic strife in Ccpur

The Joint Students' Body (JSB) comprising of the Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF), Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) and Hmar Students' Association (HSA) took out a massive rally on Thursday in Churachandpur town to observe 100 days of ethnic strife in the state.
The rally started from Lamka Public ground at 11 am and moved towards Tipaimukh road, Bungmual, Dorcas road, Tiddim road and culminated at Wall of Remembrance at Tuibuong, where village volunteers paid respect to deceased tribal, A one-minute silence was also observed at the venue as a mark of respect to tribals killed in the ethnic strife.
According to JSB leaders, the day was observed to pay tribute and respect to fallen tribal fighters who fought back the attackers.
They also said that tribal will not rest till getting the demands particularly Separate Administration, which dates back to the 1960-70s and Kuki-Zo people are not illegal immigrants as often reffered to by some politicians.
On July 27, the student body had submitted a memorandum to Governor seeking necessary measures for Kuki-Zomi university students affected by the ongoing violence in the state.
Alleging discrimination towards tribal students, the students' body had appealed to the governor to intervene into the matter.
