94 special polling stations identified

As final preparations are underway for the 18th Lok Sabha elections which would be held in two phases in Manipur on April 19 and April 26, 94 special polling stations have been identified across the State to facilitate voting by internally displaced persons.
According to a press note issued by the CEO Manipur, Imphal West would have 8 special polling stations (3 for Inner, 5 for Outer), Imphal East 9 (5 for Inner, 4 for Outer), Bishnupur 22 (11 each for Inner and Outer), Thoubal 2 (1 each for Inner and Outer), Kakching 5 (2 for Inner, 3 for Outer), Churachandpur 15 (2 for Inner, 13 for Outer), Kangpokpi 24 (4 for Inner, 20 for Outer), Tengnoupal 4 (1 for Inner, 3 for Outer), Jiribam 1 (Outer), Ukhrul 4 (Outer) .
ID forms were distributed in all the relief camps to facilitate seamless voting by IDPs on the poll days.
So far, 17,425 ID forms have been distributed and 9875 forms have been submitted back.
Regarding postal ballots, 13842 numbers of form 12D were issued in the category of PwDs out of which 2827 forms have been received.
20675 numbers of form 12D were issued in the category of 85+, out of which 4726 forms have been received.
For essential services, four 12 D forms were issued and all of them have been submitted back.
For service voters, a total of 9541 postal ballots have been transmitted through ETPBMS in respect of Inner Manipur PC and 12,215 postal ballots have been transmitted for Outer Manipur PC.
The CEO said that 118 model polling stations would be set up across the State out of which 91 would be exclusively manned by women polling personnel.
There would be a total of 806 women-managed polling stations and four polling stations would be exclusively managed by polling personnel belonging to PwD category, the CEO's press note said.
It added that three General Observers, two Police Observers and four Expenditure Observers, appointed by the Election Commission of India have arrived to oversee the preparation and conduct of Lok Sabha election 2024 in Manipur.
