Imphal, April 05 2024:
As part of its continuing drive to address shortage of blood in the state, MPG Manipur conducted a blood donation camp in coordination with Arambai Illustration and Share & Care at JNIMS blood bank on Friday.
The camp was organised in connection with the birthday of MPG member Ashangbam Luwangngamba.
According to JNIMS blood bank MO in-charge Kons-am Surjit, there is nothing to replace blood though its demand and use is increasing every day.
He said that blood requirement is very high in the state consequent to establishment of number of hospitals with past few decades seeing operationalization of over 40 hospitals.
Despite rise in the demand for blood, the rate of blood donation in the state remains around 31 percent while neighbouring states like Mizoram and Tripura stand at 90 percent.
