Preparation for LS polls in full swing across state

With the Lok Sabha Elections-2024 fast approaching, electoral preparations are in full swing across various districts in India.
From randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) to comprehensive training of polling personnel, every aspect of the electoral process is being meticulously orchestrated to ensure a smooth, fair, and inclusive voting experience.
As political parties gear up for the electoral battle, election officials, along with representatives of recognised political parties, are actively involved in overseeing the crucial tasks of randomisation, commissioning, and training.
On Friday, the second round of randomisation of EVMs and WPATs for 1319 polling stations across 32 assembly constituencies within the Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency concluded at Kombirei Hall, DC Office Complex, Lamphelpat, Imphal West.
The randomisation process, supervised by respective District Election Officers (DEOs), commenced from 9 am in the presence of Inner Manipur PC returning officer/Imphal West DEO Th Kirankumar, general observer Dr Dhavalkumar K Patel, Imphal East DEO Khumanthem Diana, and Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta, along with agents of candidates and authorised representatives from recognised political parties.
Special polling stations have also been designated in all districts falling under the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency to facilitate voting by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) .
KANGPOKPI: The commissioning process of EVMs and VVPATs took place at the FLC hall, Mini-Secretariat, Kangpokpi district on Friday, in preparation for the 18th Lok Sabha Elections, 2024.This process followed the second round of randomisation of voting machines to be used in the polling booths across three Assembly Constituencies of Kangpokpi district, namely Saikul (ST), Kangpokpi, and Saitu (ST).
Notably, polling will be conducted in 166 polling stations and 24 special polling stations for IDPs under the Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency on April 19.Concurrently, the second round of training for polling personnel continued on Friday in the district, aimed at ensuring effective election administration and the maintenance of voting process integrity.
BISHNUPUR: Friday marked the beginning of the commissioning of EVMs and VVPATs for Bishnupur district at the assembly segment strong room, Mini Secretariat Complex.
The process, overseen by Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) in the presence of political party representatives, is aimed at ensuring transparency and inclusivity.
Additionally, the DEO initiated a poster campaign under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme to educate voters on responsible voting practices apart from announcing commencement of the second round of training for polling personnel in all six assembly segments of Bishnupur district, starting April 6 (Saturday) .
PHERZAWL: The second randomisation and commissioning of EVMs and VVPAT machines for Pherzawl district's upcoming parliamentary elections took place at the DC Office Complex on Friday.
With the assistance of engineers from Electronics Corporation of India Ltd and under the supervision of election officials and authorised agents, the entire process unfolded smoothly.
Post-commissioning, all EVMs/VVPATs will be secured in a high-security Strong Room at the DC Office complex until dispersal day, ensuring the integrity of the electord process.
CCPUR: Churachandpur district is abuzz with preparations for the election as the second round of training for polling personnel, alongside the randomisation and commissioning of EVMs and VVPAT machines, commencing on Friday.
At Churachandpur Government College, male polling personnel from Henglep (ST), Saikot (ST), and Singhat (ST) assembly segments underwent comprehensive training sessions.
These sessions, facilitated by district master trainers, covered various aspects including setting up polling stations, the functioning of EVMs, and the roles of Presiding Officers and Polling Officers.
Simultaneously, the second randomisation and commissioning of EVMs and VVPAT machines took place at the Strong Room Building, Mini-Secretariat Complex, Tuibong.
The process was conducted in the presence of representatives from political parties, election agents, and district officials.
Following the randomisation, the EVMs and WPAT machines were allocated to their respective polling stations across the four assembly segments of the district.
The commissioning and preparation of these machines, overseen by AROs, were carried out with the assistance of engineers from Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL).
Additionally, a mock polling was conducted to ensure proper functioning of the voting machines, further underscoring the commitment to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections.
With 274 polling stations in the district, including 110 to be exclusively manned by women polling personnel and 15 designated for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), preparations are in full swing to ensure a smooth electoral process.
The four Assembly segments of Churachandpur district, falling under the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, are set to go to the polls on April 19, marking a crucial milestone in the democratic exercise of the nation.
