RK Maipaksana birth anniversary observed

Imphal, October 11 2023: The 9th birth anniversary observance of RK Maipaksana was organised by RK Maipaksana Memorial Trust at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, here, on Wednesday.

The function presided over by DM College former principal Dr Okram Kumar Singh was marked by offering of floral tributes to the photo of RK Maipaksana and observance of two minutes' silence as a mark of respect to those who lost their lives in the current crisis in the state.

As part of the event, the RK Maipaksana Journalist Fellowship 2023 was conferred upon Naharolgi Thoudang columnist Kakchingtabam Gunachandra Sharma.

The fellow recipient shall write two features/news stories every month on any of the topics related to hu man rights, communal harmony, women and children of Manipur, Sports in Manipur, Art & Culture and Films in Manipur, development of hills and interiors of Manipur and Science & Technology.

The fellowship carries a monthly amount of Rg 3000 for a period of one year.

Along with releasing a souvenir, the function also had a memorial lecture on RK Maipaksana wherein Prof Rk Narendra Singh spoke on the topic "Demographic Profile of Manipur: Particular reference to Scheduled Tribes" .
