A large number of Meira Paibis staged a torch rally yesterday evening at Wangoo demanding restoration of peace and normalcy in the State.
Meira Paibis from different localities of Wangoo under Sugnu and Kumbi Assembly Constituencies took part in the torch rally organised by Wangoo Ahallup Laipham Apunba Lup (WALAL) .
The rallyists urged the Government to expedite measures to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur and resettlement process for displaced people at their respective native places.

Speaking at the sidelines, Finance Secretary, Amom Angousana appealed to the Government to ramp up initiatives to restore peace and harmony in the State considering the plights of the thousands of civilians. She further appealed to all to refrain from celebrating Ningol Chakkouba in Manipur until normalcy returns and the displaced people lead a settled life at their respective native places.
She maintained that the current turmoil in the State is not conducive to celebrate the traditional festival of Ningol Chakkouba as thousands are going through immense pain and suffering due to the communal crisis.
Ningol Chakkouba is a traditional festival celebrated to strengthen the bond of love between the married women and their paternal households.
