MS appeals not to target Advanced Hospital

Imphal, June 19 2023: While clarifying that Advanced Hospital, Palace Compound is run and managed by Meitei doctors, its medical superintendent MS Dr Purnima Nepram appealed to the people not to create trouble, cause destruction or believe in rumours.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Monday, Dr Purnima pointed out that the hospital is managed by United Doctors Limited Liability Partnership Company.

The hospital was actually established near BOAT on a lease for 10 years but ha� been shifted in a new building towards the Thangapat Mapal Harikhagok Makhong side after the lease lapsed.

Subsequently, a new lease for 30 years was signed with the land owner Lenkhothang Gangte in August 2022 and started functioning.

Recalling that there were only structures of a house and an out-house in the present compound of the hospital, she informed that about Rs 5.8 crore was spent in construction of the hospital's new building in apart from additional expenditure of Rs 10 crore in purchasing modern machines and instruments by United Doctors Limited Liability Partnership Company.

However, construction of the new building remains incomplete till now due to paucity of fund, she added.

Reiterating that Advanced Hospital is the property of the Company, Dr Purnima said that the hospital managed by Meitei doctors is providing jobs to around 200 people of the state.

While acknowledging that rumours are being spread about ownership of the hospital amid the conflict situation in the state, she appealed to all not to believe in such misinformation campaign.

She also informed that the private hospital has been catering to needs of those injured in the ethnic violence, organising free health camps at relief camps and planning to reach out to riot-affected people putting up in relief camps in the coming days.
