Pact signed, Apuna JAC to claim body

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal murder of Apuna Kamei has reached an understanding with the government after holding talk with chief minister N Biren Singh.
Accordingly, the JAC has decided to claim the body.
A team of JAC met CM Biren Singh at the CM's secretariat at about 1pm on Wednesday.
After meeting the CM, JAC convener Maibon Phaomei told media persons outside CM secretariat that they submitted a six-point/demand memorandum to the chief minister during the talk with the latter assuring to translate into action all the demands at the earliest.
Key points/demands mentioned in the memorandum were termination of service of SI involved in the killing of Apuna Kamei and award of punishment as per law, payment of ex-gratia to next of kin of deceased constable Apuna Kamei and payment of full salary to Apuna Kamei's wife till service superannuation of (late) Apuna Kamei.
According to Maibon, the JAC decided to claim the body of Apuna Kamei after the CM assured of fullfiling almost all the demands raised by the JAC and family.
He also said that the assurance given by should be translated into action within three/four days.
