People suffering, not time for drama: N Loken

Imphal, July 10 2023: Former MPCC pres-ident N Loken has said that people are fed up with the drama being played by state government amidst the on-going violence and suggested that government convene an emergency assembly session to resolve the conflict if those in the government have any sense of patriotism.

The Centre will definite-ly stand up and listen when the MLAs collectively take a firm stand if the resolution adopted by the state assem-bly, if any, is not translated into action, the former MLA Loken opined while speak-ing to newspersons on the sidelines of a voluntary blood donation camp organised by Nambol Block Congress Com-mittee at JNIMS Blood Bank on Monday.

According to N Loken, Congress and like-minded parties have been shouldering their responsibility to end the violence by mounting pressure on both the state and Central governments whereas the BJP state president was all praise for Union home min-ister Amit Shah's three days visit to the state and even termed the trip as a historic one.

The state BJP even hoped of ending the violence but Amit Shah's visit contradict-ed the people's aspiration as violence continues unabated, Loken pointed out.

The former Nambol MLA further said the fact that the violence is happening during BJP's double-engine gov-ernment will forever remain etched in the history of Mani-pur.

BJP leaders persistently claimed that its double-en-gine is action oriented but there has been no effective measures to prevent loss of precious lives in Manipur, pointed out while stating that time has come for ending the drama being played by the government.

While alleging that armed forces being sent by the gov-ernment of India to the state are siding with Kuki mili-tants, N Loken said it is not the time for leaders of the state to think and cling to their posts when the centre is determined to execute its diabolic scheme.

Regarding the blood do-nation camp, he informed that around 120 people have volunteered to donate blood out of 50 joined the camp on Monday.

He said the blood donation camp is being held to highlight that Nambol BCC and people have strong re-gard and concern for those injured in the persistent at-tacks by Kuki militants.
