Imphal, July 10 2023:
Amid strong suspicion as well as media reports about involvement of Chin-Kuki il-legal immigrants in the ethnic violence in Manipur, seven Myanmarese nationals reportedly underwent treatment for bullet and bomb splinter injuries at district hospital, Churachandpur in between April and June this year.
Sources informed The Peo-ple's Chronicle that the seven foreign nationals crossed the border and entered Manipur sector of the Indian territory without authorisation.
The seven have been iden-tified as Thargyi, Khaipi, Lul-minlal, Konan, Zoki, Awang-phyowai and Ngamboi, while one David Thetpaing U, who is also from Myanmar, had been staying at the hospital as their attendant.
All of them are said to be from Ta mu district of Sagaing Division, Myanmar.
Thargyi suffered bomb splinter injury on his left hand and right cheek and Khaipi and Lulminlal bullet injuries on right and left shoulder respectively.
All three were brought to the district hos-pital on June 11 and admit-ted at the orthopaedic ward.
Thargyi, Lulminlal and Khaipi were respectively allotted bed number 11, 14 and 15.While Konan's left eye was injured by bomb splinters, Zokin suffered bullet injuries in his stomach with both admitted to the hospital on June 17 .
Since Konan's inju-ry was of minor nature, he was discharged the same day but stayed in the orthopaedic ward with his friend.
However, Zokin had to be shifted to the ICU ward (bed number 9) as his condition was stated to be serious.
Awangphyowai and Ngam-boi, who sustained bomb splinter injuries, were admit-ted on April 20 and allotted bed number 16 and 12 in the orthopaedic ward.
Awng-phyowai suffered injury on his right leg and Ngamboi on left hand and right arm.
The place of occurrence of these injuries is yet to be as-certained.
However, as five of the injuries were reported in June, there is a possibility that the incidents took place within the state.
The sources also speculated that in view of the unrest in Myanmar, it is probable that the injured individuals might be victims of the military junta's crackdown.
Pointing out that civil soci-ety organisations of Manipur have been expressing strong suspicion about involved on Myanmar-based CDF ele-ments in attacking Meetei villages in peripheral are, the sources posed whether or not state or central government authorities were aware of the treatment provided to the Myanmarese nationals at a district hospital in Manipur.
