SP's advice to farmers unfeasible: Bodies

While pointing out that deployment of 2000-plus security personnel meant to protect farmers during agricultural activities in foothills and peripheral areas, as announced by the chief minister, is yet to be put into action even after a week; farmers' bodies (Lou-mee Lup) has remarked that the SP's advice to farmers to pre-inform police before working in the fields in un-feasible.
Addressing a joint press meet with representatives of All Manipur Progres-sive Farmers' Association (AMPFA), Loumi Sinmi Apunba Lup (LOUSAL), Loyalam Apunba Loumi Lup (LALUP), Kangleipak Progressive Farmers' As-sociation (KPFA) and Irabot Foundation at Manipur Press Club here Monday, AMP-FA president Konthoujam Thoiba informed that the farmers' bodies met the Chief Minister on Sunday and urged for providing the promised security forces a day ahead of carrying out the agricultural activities.
The bodies also drew the attention of the CM about importance of setting up a monitoring committee, in addition to urging for flush-ing out suspected armed Kuki militants, and expand-ing the security perimeter which will be provided to farmers during farming ac-tivities.
