Displaced Moreh denizens seek IRB shield

While urging the state government to resolve the tur-moil currently besieging the state, people belonging to the Meetei community displaced from Moreh demanded sta-tioning of a permanent IRB battalion in the border town and re-settlement of the riot-affected people in their ancestral homes at the earliest possible.
Speaking to reporters on behalf of the displaced Moreh denizens at Wangjing Lamding Higher Secondary School relief camp on Monday, Nupi Khu-nnai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup general secretary Leishangth-em Tameng Leima recounted that after Kuki militants burnt down their houses on May 3 the Meetei people took shelter at Moreh police station till May 5 before being relocated to the 5 Assam Rifles post and finally evacuated and provided shelter at the relief camp run by Lamding Youth Committee.
While informing that the camp inmates are being tak-en good care of by Khang-abok MLA, Thoubal DC and clubs and meira paibi groups of Wangjing area, she urged authority concerned to station IRB battalion in Moreh so as to facilitate resettlement of the displaced people in their respective homes.
