Imphal, July 10 2023:
Has the Central Government sent bangles and saree wearing Army and Central paramilitary forces to Manipur, asked Saikhom Rocket, an ex-serviceman and father of Saikhom Subon, who was gunned down by the Kuki militants today.
Ex-serviceman Saikhom Rocket visited the lifeless body of his son at RIMS.
Saikhom Subon alias Sandipkumar (28) was killed by Kuki militants at Kadangband in Imphal West district.
Speaking to media persons at RIMS, Saikhom Rocket said thousands of Central security forces have been sent and deployed in Manipur since the violence first erupted on May 3 .
However, even after two months, the Central security forces are unable to control the Kuki militants and contain violence.
This is indeed shameful for the entire force, he said.
The Central security forces are getting their salaries even though they are not performing their duties to protect civilians, he added.
"I want to ask the Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Home Minister, whether they have sent bangles and saree clad Army and Central Paramilitary personnel in Manipur," said the ex-serviceman.
Saikhom Rocket added that the Central security forces should go back as they have failed.
"May son has sacrificed himself for the motherland.
I have no sorrow for his departure," Rocket said.
He alleged that the bullets that struck his son were of INSAS Rifle and LMG.
No military organisations other than the Army use such weapons, he claimed.
The Central leadership should shun divide and rule policy and the Indian Army should not implement such policy, Rocket said.
"If such policies that aim to divide the people continue, then as a retired Armyman I would personally provide military training to the people to save Manipur.
They can cut my pension if they want to," Rocket said.
